bers of all supported real and integer data types

Each of these instructions analyzes the top stack

element often in relationship to another operand and

reports the result as a condition code in the status

3 1 4 TRANSCENDENTAL INSTRUCTIONS

This group of the Intel387 operations includes trigo-

nometric inverse trigonometric logarithmic and ex-

ponential functions The transcendental operate on

the top one or two stack elements and they return

their results to the stack The trigonometric opera-

tions assume their arguments are expressed in radi-

ans The logarithmic and exponential operations

work in base 2

Each of these instructions loads (pushes) a com-

monly used constant onto the stack The constants

have extended real values nearest to the infinitely

precise numbers The only error that can be gener-

ated is an Invalid Exception if a stack overflow oc-

curs
