Each IAM contains a fully functional 56K bps
modem along with the hardware and software
needed to provide internet ISP connectivity. See
Figure 1. Due to this unique architecture, the IAM
can operate as an internet e-mail transceiver or as
a conventional high speed V.90/ 56K bps modem.
Additionally, the presence of the modem function
allows for remote access to reprogram or
reconfigure the IAM.
A valid ISP account ID and password are required
to utilize the internet connection features.
The IAM Family is pin-compatible with Cermetek’s
High Speed (“HS”) Modem and FAX Family and is
FCC Part 68 pre-approved and Canadian DOT
approvable.
The modules are designed for socket or direct PCB
insertion and measure 1.97"L x 1.40"W x 0.54"H.
Engineering Evaluation Kit Available
A useful engineering evaluation board is available
to assist the designer in set-up and operation
verification, independent of the end application.
The evaluation kit consists of an IAM (choice of
CH2156, CH2157 or CH2160), a small PCB system
board with indicator lamps and switches, +5 V
power supply and a complete set of IAM
documentation, application notes and a
MS Windows based set-up programming aid.

To order the associated Engineering Evaluation Kit, add
“EVAL” after the IAM part number, i.e., CH2160EVAL.
